"So what's on for tomorrow?" Cyrus asked when they returned to the Lincoln. |

"I have one delivery and after that we can do whatever you want." |
"Okay. You said something about hiking?" |
"Yeah. Last time I was out here, I heard about this trail up Sabino Canyon. It's supposed to be pretty easy and ends up at a series of small waterfalls." |
"Sounds good to me." Cyrus smiled. "Now, how 'bourt we go back to the motel. You look about done in." |

Kyna went to sleep that night with her head resting on his chest. Every time he tried to turn over, she tightened her grip and held on as if her very life depended on it. |

"Can you fucking believe it?" Bryan said, aghast. "She went behind my back and hired a bodyguard." |

"She didn't trust me and hired some bozo to go with her." |

Giggling, Conrad said, "You blame her?" |

Bryan frowned, then looked thoughtful. "According to the crystal, she had several near misses. Maybe this guy is the reason she got this far." |
"Maybe you should thank him." |
"Maybe I should offer him your job." |

Conrad made a rude noise and waved the suggestion away with his hand. "Nobody else is gonna put up with those idiots in your club." |

"Coven! Goddamn it, Conrad" |
"All right, all right. Chill out." |
"Well, anyway," Bryan said, suddenly all smiles, "it looks like she's going to make it, so let's get packing." He looked at the calendar on the wall. "I wonder if it's too early to get in some skiing. That mountain outside Albuquerque is supposed to have pretty good slopes." |

It was Conrad's turn to frown. "Aren't we supposed to wait until after Halloween?" |
